Wide-format jobs are priced by area, so the unit that matters is cost per square foot, media plus ink. Once you have it, any print's cost is just that rate times its area.
How it works
Media cost per square foot is the roll cost divided by the roll's area (width in feet × length in feet). Add ink cost per square foot for the total rate, then multiply by your print's area for the per-print cost.

Common questions
What about waste and bleed?
Add a margin to width and length for trim and bleed; on narrow rolls the unused edge can add real cost per finished print.
